I was asked by a colleague to write a post about building a program – I have been involved with that process three times – twice at the high school level and once at the collegiate level. I recently read the best, most informative post about turning a program around from Coach James Vint, currently at Coronado High School in Lubbock Texas. Coach Vint says it better, more eloquently and with more specifics than I ever could.
His post can be found at the link below, and is a must read if you are in the process of building a program, and a good reminder of how to “do things right” (see post Do Things Right) if you have already built and are now sustaining a program.
Building Championship Culture – Coach James Vint
Coach Vint’s thoughts on a championship culture can be applied to all sports, at all levels. I hope you take the time to read this excellent post from a coach who has done it.
